Spirit of History: Vodka Revolution

On March 13th, The Men held the second Spirit of History event at the atelier of Alton Lane.  With Diageo's Global Mixologist, Elayne Duff present and NYU Professor of Russian History, Yanni Kotsonis at the helm to lead our discussion, our guests were taught the history of Vodka in a pre and post 1917 USSR.  Once the lesson came to a close, traditional Russian toasts were made and live Russian music was played for all in attendance to enjoy.

Spirit of History: War & Whiskey

To start the year off with a bang, we've introduced a new monthly series. Spirit of History is the pedagogy behind spirits and the specific histories that surround them.  January marked our first event in the series:  War & Whiskey

Meeting in the beautiful Library of The Players Club, The Men were taken on a seven bottle tour of Bourbon, curated by the ever knowledgeable and ever entertaining Spike McClure of Diageo.  Spike introduced everyone to the libation and proceeded to explain the role that it played during The Civil War.

An Evening With Don Julio

Resting in the middle of the Hudson River lies an escape from city life. The Manhattan Sailing Club's William Wall is by far one of the best kept secrets in New York City. Such a location was only suitable for our most recent event. Manuel, a tequila ambassador for Don Julio, introduced the members of The Men's Collective to the exquisitely smooth spirit. After the tasting, Xander, an employee of The Manhattan Sailing Club, gave a bit of background on the club.
